A challenge for the success of most targeted
therapeutics is to identify prior to therapy those patients with the
highest probability of response. For many cancer drugs, the
identification of responders is very complicated.
Merrimack incorporates the development of Companion
Diagnostics into the drug discovery process by using Biochemical
Network Modeling to identify biomarkers for patient selection and
therapeutic response. These biomarkers aid in the pre-clinical
development of our therapeutics by identifying the most informative in
vitro and in vivo models. Ultimately, we envision incorporating these
tools into clinical trial design to enable patient stratification and
to accelerate the clinical development process.
